PUBLICATION NON-NEWS: Okay, folks, the rumor mill has kicked into gear, and since I’m supposedly the source I need to set the record straight before it goes any further.
First: I do NOT currently have ANY new Star Wars books under contract. What I said was that I had outline PROPOSALS, which isn’t at all the same thing. I hope that I’ll be able to discuss them with Del Rey and LFL, but that’s for the future (which I also said).
Second: I was NOT suggesting, hinting, or winking about anything that might be in Episode 9. I HAVE NO IDEA what is or isn’t in Episode 9, or in any other upcoming Star Wars movie, TV show, book, comic, game, sandwich, or anything else. The movies come first, and their content defines the direction of Star Wars for all the rest of the creative people playing in the sandbox.
In the future, people, please quote what I said, and not what you think I said. If this sort of rumor keeps cropping up around me, I may have to stop speaking about Star Wars on convention panels, or even have to stop attending conventions entirely. None of us wants that.
Okay? Trust me: if and when I have any Star Wars book news, I’ll share it here. For everything else, look to the official Star Wars site: starwars.com. If it’s said there, it’s true. If it’s not there, it’s just a rumor.”
La Lucasfilm ha introdotto il grande personaggio del Legends Thrawn nel canone ufficiale, attraverso molteplici apparizioni nella serie tv animata Rebels, in un romanzo che ci ha raccontato le sue origini, in una miniserie a fumetti basata su quel romanzo scritto da Timothy Zahn.
Lo scrittore ha già pronto un nuovo libro sul personaggio, Thrawn Alliances, che uscirà negli Usa in estate. Dopo questa pubblicazione si prenderà una pausa, ma il suo legame con il personaggio non è affatto finito, anzi…

Lo ha svelato Parks And Cons su Twitter: Timothy Zahn avrebbe siglato un contratto per la pubblicazione di altri due libri con protagonista Thrawn. Non arriveranno subito, visto che dovrà attendere la fine della Nuova Trilogia: ha bisogno di conoscere la trama di Episodio IX!
E’ un’affermazione importante, visto che apre uno scenario interessante: il destino di Thrwan potrebbe essere legato agli eventi dei sequel. In che modo? Difficile dirlo, ma ormai aspettiamo tutti alcune sorprese nelle Regioni Ignote. Dopo il finale di Rebels, siamo abbastanza certo che il Grande Ammiraglio le ha raggiunte nuovamente e che la sua storia in quel settore sconosciuto avrà un peso nella storia della Galassia.
Un legame tra il Grande Ammiraglio ed il Primo Ordine è stato “quasi accennato”. Infatti, nel Risveglio della Forza e nel romanzo Aftermath La Fine dell’Impero si lascia intendere che il Primo Ordine ha preso forma proprio nelle regioni ignote dopo la battaglia di Jakku. Proprio nel libro è stato specificato che Thrwan ha avuto un ruolo importante per raggiungere queste regioni, quindi ha in qualche modo permesso la nascita del Primo Ordine. Inoltre, la trilogia di Aftermath si conclude con un incontro “misterioso” tra gli ex imperiali e qualcuno legato a Palpatine…
